Carbohydrate Absorption Inhibitor and Production Method Thereof (Expiration of Validity Period)

Product name
Evening Primrose Extract
Title of invention
Carbohydrate absorption inhibitor and production method thereof (Expiration of validity period)
Patent number
4873824
Date of filing
July 26, 2001
Date of grant
December 2, 2011
Summary
The invention provides carbohydrate absorption inhibitor derived from evening primrose seeds that is highly effective in preventing and/or alleviating diabetes and preventing obesity, along with a production method thereof. The carbohydrate absorption inhibitor contains an alcohol extract of evening primrose seeds as an active component. The evening primrose seeds described above are preferably defatted evening primrose seeds. The evening primrose seed extraction solution described above is preferably ethanol, and more preferably hydrous ethanol of 70 to 85% (v/v). The carbohydrate absorption inhibitor contains polyphenols derived from evening primrose seeds as active components. The polyphenols described above are preferably one or two or more selected from among gallic acid, ellagic acid, catechin, pentagalloyl glucose, procyanidin, and proanthocyanidin. The method for producing the carbohydrate absorption inhibitor comprises the following processes (A) to (C): (A) Press the evening primrose seeds to separate the oil content and obtain pressed lee; (B) defat the pressed lees using a fat-soluble organic solvent to obtain the defatted product; (C) extract the defatted product with an alcohol and concentrate the extracted liquid or evaporate to dryness.

Anti-Pylori Composition

Product name
Evening Primrose Extract
Title of invention
Anti-pylori composition
Patent number
4541662
Date of filing
May 29, 2003
Date of grant
July 2, 2010
Summary
Problem to be solved: To provide an anti-pylori composition derived from evening primrose, which has excellent anti-bacterial effects against pylori and a good safety profile. Solution: The anti-pylori composition contains a solvent extract of evening primrose. The anti-pylori composition described above is preferably a solvent extract of evening primrose seeds, and more preferably defatted evening primrose seeds. The solvent extract of the anti-pylori composition described above is preferably hydrous ethanol with an ethanol concentration of 40 to 90% (wt/wt). The anti-pylori composition contains polyphenols derived from evening primrose as active components. The polyphenols described above preferably include one or two or more selected from among ellagic acid, pentagalloyl glucose, gallic acid, catechin, procyanidin, and proanthocyanidin.

Carbohydrate Absorption Inhibitor and Production Method Thereof (Expiration of Validity Period)

Product name
Evening Primrose Extract
Title of invention
Carbohydrate absorption inhibitor and production method thereof (Expiration of validity period)
Patent number
US6932990
Date of filing
July 26, 2001
Date of grant
August 23, 2005
Summary
This invention provides carbohydrate absorption inhibitor derived from evening primrose seed which is significantly effective to prevent and cure diabetes mellitus and prevent obesity, and the manufacturing method of the same. Carbohydrate absorption inhibitor in this invention is characterized that the effective component is an alcohol extract of evening primrose seed. The aforementioned evening primrose seed is preferably a defatted evening primrose seed. Extracting solvent of the aforementioned evening primrose seed is preferably ethanol, or preferably a 70 to 85% (v/v) aqueous ethanol. Also, this invention is characterized that the carbohydrate absorption inhibitor is an effective component of polyphenol derived from evening primrose seed. The polyphenol is preferably one or more substances selected from among gallic acid, ellagic acid, catechin, pentagalloylglucose, procyanidin, and proantocyanidin. The manufacturing method of the carbohydrate absorption inhibitor in this invention is characterized to be composed of the following processes A to C. Process A: evening primrose is compressed, oil is separated then the compressed cake is obtained. Process B: The aforementioned compressed cake is defatted in fat-soluble organic solvent, and defatted substance is obtained. Process C: The aforementioned defatted substance is extracted by alcohol, and then this extracted liquid is concentrated or evaporated.
